Recreation Sites In and Around the Park

Taman Warisan Negeri SelangorThe forests and streams of Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor have been enjoyed by Malaysians and other visitors for generations. Use of the forest areas for activities compatible with science and education, public recreation and nature awareness has been encouraged by the development of a number of recreation sites. There are also a number of waterfalls, which are important natural recreation sites and attract many visitors. Sungai Tua Recreational Forest is the gateway for the Park.
 
 
Popular Recreation Sites In and Around Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor

As with all nature sites:
  • Please keep the place clean!  Do NOT leave your trash in the forest!
  • Be careful.  Nature is beautiful and fun, but it can also be dangerous!  Be careful while swimming in the rivers and at waterfalls! 
  • Never go trekking without informing the authorities of your whereabouts!  Always bring water and supplies.
  • You are responsible for your own safety!
 
1. The Hulu Selangor – Fraser’s Hill –Bukit Kutu region

a Fraser’s Hill and The Gap Lodging available, bird watching, trekking, great for the family Location: Approximately 103km north, or two hours’ drive, from Kuala Lumpur
b Sungai Chiling Fish Sanctuary Picnicking, river swimming Location: 21 kilometers from Kuala Kubu Bharu along the road to the Gap
c Bukit Kutu Forest Reserve Camping, trekking, and mountain climbing Location: 10 kilometers from Kuala Kubu Bharu off Pertak
d Serendah Waterfalls Easy access off the main road. Swimming and picnicking for the family Location: 6 km from Kampung Dato Harun, Serendah
e Sungai Kedondong Recreation Park Picnicking and river swimming available here. Just off the main road B66, from Batang Kali towards Gohtong Jaya on the way to Genting Highlands, the recreation area on your right hand side.

2. The Hulu Gombak–Kanching–Batang Kali-Genting Highlands region
No Place Activities Location
a Sungai Sendat Recreational Forest Camping, picnicking, river swimming and trekking.  Environmental education upon appointment 5 km from Ulu Yam Baharu.  Bit of a drive into the forest, but a lovely spot once you’re inside
b Sungai Tua Recreational Forest Lots of family fun here.  Camping, picnicking, river swimming, trekking and environmental education upon appointment is all available here 10 km from Selayang town along the Gombak to Ulu Yam Road
c Commonwealth Recreational Forest & Commonwealth Forest Park Plenty of family fun here.  Two recreational sites next to each other.  Lodging and camping here, as well as picnicking, river swimming and trekking. 6 km from Rawang, along the Rawang to KL road
d Kanching Recreational Forest One of the oldest recreation forests in Malaysia.  Fun here includes camping, picnicking, river swimming, trekking.  Environment education is available with appointment 13 km from Rawang to Kuala Lumpur
e Templer Recreation Park Another of the oldest recreation forests in Malaysia.  Enjoy river swimming and picnicking here.  Both Kancing and Templer Park can get very crowded on the weekends, so go early to get a spot! 13 km from Rawang to Kuala Lumpur

3. The Ampang – Hulu Langat – Sungai Lalang Region
No Place Activities Location
a Klang Gates Quartz Ridge Mountain climbing/trekking along the ridge.  Very steep trails here.  Not suitable for children.  Lovely views of Kuala Lumpur as well as the Park, as you walk along the ridge near Klang Gate Dam, Taman Melawati
b Ampang Forest Park Lovely little retreat so close to the city.  Camping, picnicking, river swimming, bird watching, jungle trekking all available here.   Environmental education upon appointment 8 km from Kuala Lumpur at the end of Jalan Ampang
c Gabai Waterfalls Fun here includes river swimming and picnicking First go to Hulu Langat.
Next follow the road to Kg Pangsun for about 7 km until Batu 18 and turn right.
After 6 km you will see the signboard for the Falls.
Turn left and follow the road until the carpark
d Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest A popular recreation spot.  Camping available here, as well as picnicking, river swimming and trekking.  Environment education upon appointment 13 km from Cheras town, along Hulu Langat to Pangson road
e Gunung Nuang Recreational Forest The highest peak in Selangor.  Activities include lodging, camping.  At the base is picnicking, and river swimming.  Jungle trek to the summit for the fit physically and mentally fit! 17 km from Cheras town, along Hulu Langat to Pangson road.  Very close to Langat Dam
f Sungai Tekala Recreational Forest A great place for family fun.  Includes camping, picnicking, river swimming, bird watching, trekking.  Environmental education upon appointment. 13 km from Semenyih, along the Semenyih to Hulu Langat road.  Near the Semenyih Dam
