TrEES Programmes Are Supported By;

TrEES Biodiversity and Climate Change Community Centre (BCC)

The BCC, the first of its kind in Malaysia, is located at the Giant Cash & Carry, Subang Jaya, which has over 50,000 customers a month. The BCC is situated in a middle class community very concerned and proactive in issues relating to the environment and serves local community groups from diverse backgrounds and is convenient for residents of Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Puchong, Petaling Jaya and Klang.

The BCC serves as a multifunctional referral and resource center providing the community with easy access to information and support on issues of climate change, biodiversity and environmental care

This unique centre runs on solar power and exhibits working models on rain water harvesting, composting and recycling. A biodiversity garden, a potpourri of the region's flora, has also been established to demonstrate the rich variety of floral species in Malaysia.

Through our 'meet the community' efforts at the BCC, TrEES has also assisted groups in a number of other ways. Youth groups have organized trips to our centre to get inspiration on projects they can implement at their clubs and colleges. We have assisted resident associations in organizing tree planting activities in their own communities, provided advice and methodology to companies to implement office recycling, provided advice to individual residents on how to take action on environmental issues that are affecting them in their immediate community.
